TAHOE DONNER CROSS COUNTRY SKI CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS:

In this Winter Olympic year Tahoe Donner will be offering many special events to celebrate and allow guests to experience the Olympic sport of Cross Country Skiing and biathlon. Nov. 30, Welcome Winter – Cross Country Season Passholders Wine Tasting/Social.  All season passholders are invited to join us for appetizers and wine at the cross country center.  This is a great chance to mingle, get excited for the upcoming season and hopefully we will even have some snow on the ground! The cost is $20 ($25 the day of the event) and includes appetizers and wine tasting.

Dec. 13-20, Passholder “Bring a Friend” Days. We are offering a great deal for guests of season passholders from Dec 13-20. Unlimited guests allowed. Passholder must be present. Conditions permitting. The cost is $15 for a trail pass and $10 for rentals. 

Dec. 14, Full Moon Ski and Snowshoe Tour & Dinner at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. Moonlight ski and snowshoe tour, dinner and wine tasting from 5-8 p.m. The cost is $45 for adults and $30 for 12 and under. 

Dec. 14, Learn to be a Cross Country Instructor at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. Ever wondered if you have what it takes to teach skiing?  An all-day learn to teach XC skiing event will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 14 as part of the PSIA/FWNESA Cross Country Ski Fall Festival.  See www.psia-w.org for details. Open to the public.   

Dec. 22, Snowshoe Tour at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. From 10:30 a.m. – noon, join Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center’s experienced snowshoe guides to learn more about snowshoeing, explore the trails at Tahoe Donner and learn about local fauna and flora.  The cost is $30 for tour only or $59 for trail pass, rental and tour. 

Dec. 22, Biathlon Clinic at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. In the spirit of the Olympic games, this new cross country program will introduce participants to the Olympic sport of biathlon from 10-11:30 a.m. for ages 13 and older and 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. for Juniors ages 7-12. Cost $30; trail pass required. 

Dec. 27, Equipment Demo Day at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Reps will have their latest and greatest equipment to demo including equipment by Fischer, Swix, Salomon, Madshus, Rossignal and others. Free with trail pass. 

Dec. 29, Snowshoe Tour at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. From10:30 a.m.-noon, join Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center’s experienced snowshoe guides to learn more about snowshoeing, explore the trails at Tahoe Donner and learn about local fauna and flora. Discounted Learn to Ski Packages will be offered in celebration of national Learn to Ski & Board month to encourage new people to try out the wonderful sport of cross country. Lesson and rental included with the purchase full day pass (Adults $27, Juniors $21, Child $11, Senior $21, Super Senior $11). 

Jan. 11, Winter Trails Day & Demo Day Hosted by REI at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. From 11 a.m.-3 p.m. there will be a national celebration of winter fun hosted by Tahoe Donner and REI. Winter Trails Day offers those new to snowsports the chance to try cross country skiing and snowshoeing for free with registration at www.rei/sacramento.com. Donations accepted to help support the local cross country school ski teams.

Jan. 14-16, Euer Valley Moonlight Skiing at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. During this week, a specific night with the best conditions will be selected for an adventure encouraging folks to ski The Euer Valley by moonlight. Enjoy soup and salad after as well as drink specials. Check the website for details. Night ski pass is $10 adults, $5 for 18 and under and free for passholders. 

Jan. 20, Skogsloppet Race at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center.Organized by our local school cross country ski teams as a fundraiser and starting at 10 a.m., choose a 15-kilometer for adults and 10-kilometer or 5-kilomter course for juniors.  A 2-kilometer course option for 12-year-olds and under will be available.  Everyone is welcome and all participants enter the drawing for some great prizes donated by friends of the school teams. The cost is $25 for adults, $18 for 18 and under, $5 for youth race. All race events $5 additional day of event.  

Feb. 3, Ski Orienteering at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. Organized by The Bay Area Orienteering Club. See www.BAOC.org for details. 

Feb. 8, Biathlon Clinic at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. In the spirit of the Olympic games, join Olympian Glenn Jobe who will give a special, informative presentation and clinic about the Olympic sport of biathlon at 10-11:30 a.m. for ages 13 and older and 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. for Juniors ages 7-12.  Cost $30, trail pass required. 

Feb. 8-23, Winter Olympics at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. It’s an Olympic year and we’re ready to celebrate with our own version of winter Olympics. Stay tuned for fun Olympic-themed competitions and activities during this much-anticipated global event.

Feb. 14, Full Moon Ski & Snowshoe Tour & Dinner at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. From 5-8 p.m., watch the moon rise from the trails. Moonlight ski and snowshoe tour, dinner and wine tasting. The cost is $45 for adults and $30 for 12 and under. Feb. 15, Fun Olympic Night Relay: A short and fun relay course suitable for all ages and levels – make a team of three and join in the fun. Dinner and drink special for racers. Adult night race is $15 and $8 for 18 and under including pass.

In the spirit of the Olympic games, this new cross country program will introduce participants to the Olympic sport of biathlon from 10-11:30 a.m. for ages 13 and older and 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. for Juniors ages 7-12. Cost $30; trail pass required. 

Feb. 23, Tahoe Donner 40-Kilometer Challenge with 20-Kilometer option.Choose a 40km or 20km course. Everyone is welcome and all participants enter the draw for some great prizes.  Racing starts at 10 a.m. The cost is $35 for adults; $20 for adult passholders; $25 for 18 and under; $15 for 18 and under passholders. The cost is an additional $5 the day of the event. 

March 9, FUN RUN on Skis at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. Racing starts at 10 a.m. Ideal for the recreational skier/snowshoer to try their hand at a fun race on a non-technical course. 2km, 5km or 10km ski or snowshoe options and a barbecue to follow. Trail pass required. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for 18 and under.     

March 16, Family Fun Day at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. From 10 a.m. – noon,  this is a fun family ski day including three-legged races, obstacle course, sprints, relays and more. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for 18 and under. Tahoe. 

March 22, Tour D’Euer at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center. Event start times are between 8 a.m.-10 a.m. A new twist to this favorite end of season tradition this year, join the challenge to win a season pass for next year, dinner at The Lodge Restaurant & Pub more. The cost is $35 for adults, $25 for 18 and under or $20 for adult passholders and $15 for 18 and under passholders. All race events $5 additional day of event.        

March 23, Taste of Truckee at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Center.On-snow gourmet food tasting event from 12:30-2:30 p.m.  – ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and connoisseurs of good food. Beginners can rent skis or snowshoes at the Cross Country Ski Center and get a few free pointers from our experienced instructors before heading out to eat. A percentage of proceeds will be donated to our local Slow Food organization, and to Far West Nordic Ski Education Association. This event will sell out. The cost is $35 for adults and $20 for 18 and under for advance purchase or $45 for adults and $30 for $18 and under the day of the event.
