Truckee-Tahoe Nordic Training Groups 2011

The Truckee-Tahoe Nordic training groups are enjoying a special treat this summer with the addition of a group of NCAA college skiers from the east coast. The brainchild of Martin Benes, Bates College Assistant Nordic Coach (and former Far West racer), athletes from Middlebury, Williams, Bates, and other schools are living and training out West with our junior athletes. Many of them are being hosted by the families of the juniors themselves. Recently, we caught up with one of their combined workouts, with the energy of 24 young nordic skiers running, drilling, and playing soccer showing that there truly is strength in numbers when it comes to summer training. As Middlebury’s Noah Brautigam remarked, “These guys might not realize what they have out here, but let me tell you, it’s one of the best places to train and live that I have ever seen.”
