WEST YELLOWSTONE SUPERTOUR: Montana

  • Open to: any Far West Junior J1 and older (J2s need coaches' permission)

How does a week of full time ski immersion sound? 7 days of on-snow training, technique, drills, and fun with Far West's best coaches and our nation's best skiers- the US Ski Team will be there as well as other divisions and clubs. Industry representatives and new product demos. A festive atmosphere. Join us to kick off your season in grand style.
Camp open to all Far West Juniors J1 and older. *J2's need to talk to a coach and get his/her permission before signing up. This is an intensive camp with two x's a day training and full skiing immersion. West Yellowstone is a long way from home in many ways...



SENIOR NATIONALS: Rumford, Maine
  • December 31, 2010 - January 9, 2011

  • Open to: Far West Junior National Qualified J1 and older, and all Far West Senior Team
  • Sign-up Deadline: December 21, 2010
This full-tilt racing trip is open to Far West JO Qualified Juniors, J1 (please talk to your coach for confirmation) or older, plus all Far West Seniors. It is 10 days long with 4 days of top-notch ski racing and competition with the best skiers in the country.
Sign-ups are due by December 21, 2010. 

 

UTAH SUPER JOQ - SOLDIER HOLLOW
  • January 27 - 30, 2011

  • Open to all Far West athletes age 13 or older wishing for top-notch race experience.  Races are in Soldier Hollow, Utah - site of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Nordic skiing
  • Sign-up Deadline: January 20, 2011

This is one of the most competitive race weekends for juniors in the country, and is a great way for us to race against the best young skiers in the West on the 2002 Olympic trails at Soldier Hollow. Plus, it’s a really fun trip.

This trip is open to all SERIOUS nordic athletes age 13 and above (or coach discretion).

 

 

MAMMOTH JOQ
  • February 5-6, 2011

  • Open to all Far West juniors (age 13-19) wishing to qualify for Junior Nationals 2011

JUNIOR NATIONALS 2011 - MINNEAPOLIS, MN

Every athlete needs to have a valid USSA license, available on the ussa.org website.

Checks are encouraged for all payments, but credit cards accepted for all payments.

Remember to send in your Medical Release, Waiver & Release Form, and Code of Conduct Form well in advance!
Athletes will also need an Independent Study Form in order to get their schoolwork.

 

MAMMOTH MARATHON
  • April 2-3, 2011

  • Open to to all Far West Juniors (age 13-19).  A very fun end-of-the-year trip/race experience.

This is a VERY fun end-of-the-year trip/race experience. You can choose to race 10 km., 21 km., or go for the big one — 42K! No pressure, just fun!

 

 

COMPLETED CAMPS

LAKE TAHOE/BLISS CAMP, BLISS STATE PARK, CA
  • September 3-5, 2010

  • Open to all Far West Nordic Juniors ages 12-19

For athletes ages 12-19. This is a medium-intensity camp with fun training activities and ski technique.
Meet at the Truckee HS @ 4pm on Friday to head to D.L. Bliss State Park on the west shore of beautiful Lake Tahoe. When we arrive, we will cook dinner and enjoy team building activities on the beach. Saturday morning will be the annual biathlon workout consisting of kayaking and running and an afternoon roller ski session. Sunday is a hike up a mountain for a fantastic view of Lake Tahoe. Come join your ski buddies for the last training camp of the Summer! Plan to be back at Truckee HS Sunday evening. You must be a Far West member to participate.


MT LASSEN CAMP
  • August 11-15, 2010
  • Cost: $380; Sugar Bowl Academy athletes $330
  • Open to Junior National Qualified athletes

Open to Junior National Qualified athletes only. Space is limited.
We will be camping, rollerskiing, hiking to the summit of Lassen, swimming, World Cup Soccer; PNSA vs FW and, general mayhem.

Coaches: Ben Grasseschi and Jeff Schloss as well as Ben Husaby and Brenna Warburton from Bend.


JUNE LAKE CAMP, JUNE LAKE, CA
  • July 22-25, 2010
  • Cost: $225
  • Open to all Far West Nordic Juniors ages 13-19
  • Sign-up Deadline July 18, 2010

For ALL Far West juniors ages 13-19. Super fun camp with lots of technique and distance training. A great mid-summer training goal to look forward to and learn from. All abilities and levels welcome. Camp will include ski walking, technique, rollerskiing, hiking in the amazing Eastern Sierra, games, beach, swimming, running, S' mores, strength/core training, etc.

 

WESTERN REG
  • June 21-27, 2010
  • Cost: $900 plus airfare
  • By Invite Only
  • Sign-up Deadline June 1, 2010

For Far West junior athletes J1s and OJs, by Western Region Invite only. Train with the best junior skiers from the west and start your season off right. All participants need to be keeping a training log, prove that they are training in the 'off season', and have rollerskied 12+ times before attending. Also, a USSA license is required.

 

CAMP REFUND POLICY:

90% REFUND IF CANCELLATION PRIOR TO ONE WEEK BEFORE CAMP BEGINS
50% REFUND IF CANCELLATION AFTER ONE WEEK BEFORE CAMP.
(If the spot can be filled from our waiting list, then the 90% Refund will take effect)

Far West Nordic Camps are limited. YOU MUST BE A FAR WEST NORDIC MEMBER TO ATTEND! Sign-up as soon as possible. SIGNUPS MUST BE MADE NO LATER THAN ONE WEEK PRIOR TO CAMP DATES, unless otherwise stated!
Cost includes all applicable food, coaches and camping/lodging fees. Go to our CAMP SIGNUP PAGE or download the CAMP APPLICATION (when available) and send in your money A.S.A.P.!
If you want to go to a camp follow these steps:
1) Convince your parents that you must attend. You can use the following reasons:

  • The camps are INEXPENSIVE.
  • They are high quality - the best coaches in the country run them.
  • You will learn how to train during the offseason to build your endurance and strength as well as refine your technique.
  • You will build your confidence. You will be training with the best junior skiers in the West.
  • You will meet other athletes your age that are interested in cross country skiing.
  • You will learn responsible behavior, like doing the dishes, taking out the garbage, etc.
  • You will have a lot of fun.

2) Go to our CAMP SIGN-UP PAGE and fill it in. Either pay on-line or mail the Registration Form, Releases and Payment to:

3) Print a copy of the 3 Page Medical Release, Waiver & Release Form, and Code of Conduct Acrobat pdf file and fill them in. Make sure you fill in ALL the blanks. Mail these forms to the address above.

Far West Nordic reserves the right to cancel any trip or camp if we do not have a minimum number of participants.
