To get a strength score, multiply the number of pull-ups completed by 3, then add that score to the total repetitions completed in the other four exercises.

Meet in the Sugar Bowl Academy parking lot at 9 am.
NO outdoor running shoes are allowed in the SBA gym, so bring indoor workout shoes.
All Far West athletes are welcome to come.

Drifter Time Trial

Meet at the Negro Canyon trailhead off of I-80 at 9:00am on Friday the 9th. All serious juniors and masters are welcome to join in. It is a hard uphill run of about 1.3 miles with 800 feet of elevation gain. Times range from 11-22 minutes for fit athletes.

CLASSIC TECHNIQUE CLINIC @ Tahoe XC

Back by popular demand is our classic ski clinic. This year it will be led by renowned Far West coach and Olympian Glenn Jobe. Glenn was an Olympic Biathlete in the 1980 Olympic Games, was the 1981 National Biathlon 20 km champion, as well as a former Far West Nordic head coach.  He was the founder of both the Kirkwood and Tahoe Donner Nordic centers and has been coaching Far West Junior skiers since 1977.

We’re scheduling this clinic before the Tahoe Rim Tour to give Far West members time to improve their classic techniques and get “on-course” instruction from some of Tahoe’s best classic skiers. This clinic is geared to intermediate and advanced classic skiers looking to improve their skills and race performance. This clinic will include 2 hours of “on snow” time where coaches will review various aspects of how you classic ski, help you correct bad habits, and identify opportunities for improving your skiing. After two hours of on-snow instruction, we will spend an hour reviewing video -where you will learn from analysis of your technique and in comparison to the technique of others.

Note: You’ll need a Tahoe XC trail pass for the day. Far West members can present their membership card to receive a full day pass at the half day rate.
