UPHILL SKIERS, RUNNERS, AND SHOWSHOERS RACE AT SQUAW VALLEY

Betty WalshBilly Dutton was an athlete with extraordinary endurance, equally famous for his great smile as he was for his daily (!) routine of skiing UP the Mountain Run on classic skis. As one of the founders of Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue, Billy’s legacy lives on today. The Billy Dutton Uphill commemorates Billy’s life and his many contributions to our community.

Billy’s mother, Betty Walsh, passed away earlier this year and this year’s race will honor Betty Walsh as well as Billy Dutton.

Squaw Valley’s original “run what ya brung” uphill race, an answer to the famous Chinese Downhill of the 70?s, starts at the base of KT-22.
