In the Yellowstone Rendezvous Race 50k on March 3, 2012 Farm Team Racer Wyatt Fereday was 5th overall (1st 18-24 yo male) with a time of 2:50:20.6. Zach Karas came in 14th (3rd 30-34 yo male) with a time of 2:59:11.6. Ralph Johnson was 78th overall (2nd 60-64 yo male) at 3:36:13.1.
The World Masters Cross Country Ski Championships are underway in Oberwiesenthal, Germany. Far West Nordic master Carolyn Tiernan podiumed in 3 events, taking the gold medal in the 30k freestyle, a 3rd place in the F07 15k classic, and a silver medal in the 10k freestyle. Frank Sarnquist was 41st in the M09 10k classic. Bruce Culbertson placed 55th in the Mo7 30k freestyle, 49th in the 15k freestyle, and 63rd in the 10k freestyle.
Farm Team racer Elias Bucher took 1st place in the 8.5km freestyle and 2nd place in the classic sprint at the USCSA Championships in Bethel, Maine.
Byron Beagles and Bruce Pauly traveled to Granby, Colorado last weekend for the Snow Mountain Stampede (42km freestyle on Saturday, 42km classic on Sunday). Saturday in miserable cold, snowy, windy conditions, Bruce finished 38th (7th in M50-59) and Byron finished 43rd (2nd in M60-69). Sunday with better conditions, Bruce finished 15th (2nd in M50-59) and Byron finished 19th (1st in M60-69). Only 6 racers completed both marathons. For the combined, Bruce finished 5th and Byron finished 6th.
At the NCAA Championships in Bozeman, Montana Joanne Reid, skiing for CU, took 6th place in the 5k freestyle and 19th place in the 15k classic.
