End-Of-Summer Run & Roll Extravaganza

txc-asc-roll2014_group

Four separate Far West Nordic cross country ski teams came together for one last day of training and fun on August 23 for a run and rollerski session on the trails of Tahoe Cross Country and beyond. Tahoe XC, Auburn Ski Club, Sugar Bowl Academy, and half the Far West Elite Team participated by running from Tahoe XC to the Fibreboard Freeway, rollerskiing the Great Ski Race course to Soup Station #1, and then running to Watson Lake. The festivities didn’t end there, as Kevin Murnane and parents hosted a fun, season-ending barbecue for all. For some assorted photos from the day, check out the photos from the RUN & ROLL EXTRAVAGANZA.

Squaw Mountain Run 2014

squawmtrun2014_donovan-gruberThe 2014 edition of the Squaw Mountain Run results are online. Auburn Ski Club is the driving force (and main beneficiary) of this event, and over 400 runners and hikers participated this year in perfect weather conditions on a beautiful day. And of course, Far West Nordic was there in force.

Even though it’s a running race, it’s notable that so many of the top finishers are connected to the Nordic world. Men’s winner JP Donovan is currently the XC ski coach for Incline High School, while second place Andrew Cobourn is a former top junior Nordic racer for the division. 8 out of the top 12 men’s finishers have Far West Nordic ties, and 7 out of the top 12 women, including overall winner Anja Gruber (Far West Elite Team).

Congratulations to all the participants. Results are HERE.
