TED BEAUCHAMP SCHOLARSHIP

The Far West Nordic Junior Committee is pleased to announce the 2012 Ted Beauchamp Scholarship winner, Melanie Swick.
Congratulations Melanie!
Melanie is very deserving of this award as she epitomizes the late Ted Beauchamp in many ways.
A relative new-comer, Melanie has quickly turned Nordic skiing into a palpable passion in her life. Her focus when training and racing is unparalleled. She is always asking questions and wanting to learn/do more. Her enthusiasm for skiing, and life, and her always ready smile, is infectious.
Melanie trains year-round with the Auburn Ski Club Competition Team and has done so for the past 2 years. She balances her Nordic training with an equal passion for cross country running. In fact, this past fall, Melanie earned a gutsy 3rd place finish in the Nevada State XC Running Championship meet. Nice!
Never one to sit idle, Melanie was out rollerskiing with the Nordic Team a few days later, gittn' "Fired Up" for ski season.
As a Senior at Incline High School, Melanie is an accomplished student as well, earning excellent marks and taking regional top honors, together with her peers, in a recent "We the People"- which "promotes civic competency and responsibility in high school students" - presentation/competition. Way to Go Melanie!

And, certainly not least, being feisty, focused, and tenacious, Melanie has broken several rollerski tips and blown a zipper on her skate boots recently. Having this scholarship money will give her some extra cash to get new ones while she readies herself to earn a spot on the 2012 Far West Nordic Junior National Team this year.
Best Wishes "DG"!
You deserve it.

And, Thank You!, Ted Beauchamp Family; Sue and James, for your support of Far West Nordic Juniors!
