The first rule of biathlon is to have fun. And, we’re going to have a blast.

Registration opens February 20, 2014 and closes on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 11:59 p.m.

Never shot a rifle before? We have clinics. Even if you can’t make a clinic, we will have an experienced biathlete at each shooting lane who can help you shoot and will keep you and everyone else safe.

Don’t own a rifle? We have community rifles and we supply the ammunition. We have kid’s rifles and we have adult rifles.

Don’t want to ski with a rifle? If you don’t have your own rifle, you ski without a rifle.

Own your own rifle? You can use it. You can ski with your own rifle or you can leave it in racks at the range while you ski.

2014 Ted Beauchamp Scholarship Awarded

Peter HolmesThe Far West Nordic Ski Association is pleased to announce that Peter Holmes has been awarded the Ted Beauchamp Scholarship for 2014.

Peter is a senior at North Tahoe High School and captain of the North Tahoe Nordic Team. He was a member of the 2014 U.S. Scandio Team representing the USA and Far West Nordic in Rovaniemi, Finland.

Ski racing is Peter’s passion. He is very dedicated to training year round, often training twice a day. He started competing in Nordic skiing in 7th grade. He is captian of the North Tahoe Nordic team and has received a leadership award for his work with other racers on the team. He is also an accomplished student and is on the Far West Nordic Academic Team. Peter plans to continue racing at the collegiate level next year. He is someone Far West can be very proud of as he makes his way out into the larger ski racing world.

The scholarship is 300 dollars but more importantly is one of the highest honors that a junior Nordic ski racer can achieve in the Far West Division. The Ted Beauchamp Scholarship was set up in 1995 to honor the memory of long time Far West Nordic Board member Ted Beauchamp. Ted gave tirelessly to help kids excel in the sport he loved and Peter is a perfect young person to honor Ted’s name.

Congratulations Peter!

And, Thank You!, Ted Beauchamp Family; Sue and James, for your support of Far West Nordic Juniors!
