PSIA Nordic Fall Festival

PSIA and Far West are working together to bring you  “The Fall Festival”, 3  days of skiing clinics, teaching workshops and social events. Join us for sessions with top clinicians like former Olympians Nancy Fiddler and Katerina Housanova. Improve your skiing with Martin Benes, Sally Jones, Peter Mayfield and Julie Young.

 A variety of skiing and teaching oriented topics will be offered for intermediate and advanced skiers, as well as a Level 1 exam prep clinic (a great way to check out if you have what it takes to teach xc!) Sign up before Dec. 9 for early registration!

Ironman Volunteers Earned Far West Bucks



Congratulations and thank you to the Far West Nordic juniors who volunteered at Ironman Lake Tahoe. Incline High School Seeking Nordic Coach

Incline High School has asked us to get the word out that they are looking for a Nordic Coach for this season. All practices are held at Tahoe XC so it is not necessary to travel to Incline for practices as the team has the support of parent volunteers to help with transportation. How does a week of full time ski immersion sound? 7 days of on-snow training, technique, drills, and fun with Far West’s best coaches and our nation’s best skiers- the US Ski Team will be there as well as other divisions and clubs. Industry representatives and new product demos. A festive atmosphere. Join us to kick off your season in grand style.
Camp open to all Far West Juniors U16 and older. *U14’s need to talk to a coach and get his/her permission before signing up. This is an intensive camp with two x’s a day training and full skiing immersion. West Yellowstone is a long way from home in many ways…

Tahoe XC Seeking Devo and Competition Team Coaches

nths_teamThe Tahoe Cross Country Ski Education Association (TCCSEA) program is searching for a Head and Assistant Coach to work with its newly formed Nordic Junior Development and Competition Team, serving primarily middle school and high school age racers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established association with very successful programs and be a part of the development of our new Devo/Comp Program.

This position requires that you be available for training 2-3 days week and assist in other aspects of running the team on a more flexible schedule. Additionally there might be longer day trips and camps on the schedule.

The position is part-time. Approximately 8 hours per week during the Summer/Fall Season plus some Saturdays, and 12 hours+ per week during the Winter/Spring Season. Possible work might be available at the Tahoe XC Ski Area and/or the Tahoe XC Mt Biking Center.

Auburn Ski Club Training Center Open House

Keep Calm – Winter is coming.  While we watch NOAA for news of the first BIG snow the ASC Training Center is hosting an open house, Sat. October 26th.  We’re inviting all members, guests and those interested in learning about ASC Training Center and our programs.  It’ll be a full morning of activities:

9am to 11am –Bring your outgrown equipment of all kinds for a club equipment swap and sell with others.  The long room will be set aside for all to buy, sell and make “deals”.

9am to 10:30 am – Coaches and staff will be available to talk about 2013-14 programs, equipment, etc.  We’ll have handout materials and showing videos.

 For families ready to turn in program registration forms, or individuals joining and getting XC trail passes staff in be in the office to help get you through the paper work and issue membership cards and XC passes.
