Far West juniors from Truckee, North Tahoe, Sugar Bowl Academy and Mammoth programs took part in a 4 day camp in the Eastern Sierra July 18-21. Camping in June Lake, participants experienced lots of sunshine and warm temperatures while putting in some high quality training.

Campers from the north and south merged at the county park on the north shore of scenic Mono Lake on Thursday afternoon for some foot agility, skate plyos, and circuits to kick off the camp. Friday was a double workout day with the focus on classic skiing. It was all about bounding, moose hoofing, and ski walking intensity in the morning, followed by rejuvenation in the cool water of June Lake. Hot is the best single word to describe the afternoon roller ski workout, but the 21 athletes focused down on some specific strength drills to complete the day. Read more

junelake2012June Lake Camp: July 18-21
Calling all Junior Far West skiers aged 13 and up! A super fun and motivating camp for the ‘old hands” to the ‘newbies’. June Lake Camp is the longest running Far West Nordic summer camp for a good reason. It’s all about camping in the beautiful Eastern Sierra near the Big Mountains, swimming in clear June Lake, roller skiing on the smooth, low traffic east side roads, and hiking up a big old mountain, the likes of which you won’t find in the Tahoe area. Add to this top notch coaching and great camaraderie with your skiing buddies and you’ve got one of the best Nordic ski camps in the West. Get your Nordic game on and sign up for the camp! Skiers of all abilities welcome.

FW/PNSA Redwoods: August 14-18
Open to all Far West Juniors who have qualified for Junior Nationals. We have a friendly rivalry and shared training and technique experiences with Pacific Northwest Junior skiers. A super fun and challenging camp geared towards getting you ready for the hard training in the fall that is necessary to make you the best skier you can be. Camp consists of running, hiking, general water mayhem, rollerskiing, World Cup Soccer match, technique, and Fun; not necessarily in that order.
