Feed your inner gear habit July 6th. The annual ASC OUTDOOR REP SAMPLE sale is coming up Sat. July 6th, 9am to 1pm in the ASC Training Center parking lot. Don’t miss out on some great deals on clothing, outdoor footwear, nordic skis, cycling stuff, backpacks, snowshoes, clothing etc etc. Fundraiser for the Auburn Ski Club Junior programs.
July 4th Firecracker Mile. Event starts at 9:45am by US Bank Thursday July 4th. 1 mile gravity fed fun event for all ages & abilities. Run through the crowds waiting for the parade. Fundraiser for Auburn Ski Club Nordic Programs. Visit ASC for details and registration.
The Drifter Time Trial uphill run this Saturday, June 29th, will meet at the Negro Canyon trail head at 9:15am. There will also be a carpool meeting at Truckee High School at 9:00am to drive up to the trailhead. There is no fee for any Far West members who want to come do it. It is about 1.3 miles and 900 feet elevation gain. We warm up up the trail about 1 mile to the start spot and the actual time trial starts at about 9:45 once we are all up at the start. Far West juniors are encouraged to come and race and adults are welcome too. It is a hard effort.
Agony Hill Time Trial
Park City, Utah: REG Nordic skiers ran an early morning time trial up 1200 feet of the 0.9 mile Agony Hill. One runner broke 15 minutes a few more broke into the 16 minute range as a great start for the western REG (Regional Elite Group) camp. Far West Nordic juniors were strong with Katrin Laurusson taking 3rd at 19:17.0, Laurel Fiddler 4th at 19:34.0, Hannah Halvorsen 6th at 20:20.0, and Joelle Romo 19th at 26:05.0. Peter Holmes took 4th with a time of 16:05.0, Dylan Syben was 13th at 17:39.0, and Julien Bordes was 26th at 21:37.0.
It’s exciting to get rolling with the college group for the 3rd summer in a row. I started this program in the spring of 2011 for a lot of reasons, but with no idea how it would turn out. We had 11 athletes that first summer, and just 1 local collegiate skier. Now, we have a good mix of local athletes and those who have travelled from far and wide. For all of them, it is a great opportunity to train alongside like-minded people: student-athletes looking for a way to take the next step in their skiing. Read more…

The Canadian Strength Test
- Pull-Ups (1 min), Recovery (1 min)
- Site-Ups (1 min), Recovery (1 min)
- Push-Ups (1 min), Recovery (1 min)
- Box jumps (1 min), Recovery (1 min)
- Bench Dips (1 min)
To get a strength score, multiply the number of pull-ups completed by 3, then add that score to the total repetitions completed in the other four exercises.
Meet in the Sugar Bowl Academy parking lot at 9 am. We will go for a warm up run and then get into testing.
NO outdoor running shoes are allowed in the SBA gym, so bring indoor workout shoes.
