Snowshoe Thompson Classic + Paco’s Freestyle = Silver Sage Center Pursuit

Sunday December 30th’s Snowshoe Thompson Classic and Monday, December 31st’s Paco’s Freestyle can now be raced as a PURSUIT.

The optional Silver Sage Center Pursuit Race means a racer’s result on the first day at the Snowshoe Thompson Classic will determine her start for the 2nd day. So Paco’s Freestyle start (for those doing both races ONLY) will be based on results from the first day, with the fastest person from the Snowshoe Thompson starting first and so on.

Each day’s race will have its own separate results, upon which race prizes will be based. The Silver Sage Center Pursuit Race will offer New Year’s appropriate beverages as additional prizes for the top FIVE overall men and women in the Silver Sage Center Pursuit results.

There WILL be a Master’s Challenge and Sierra Ski Chase bonus for racing the pursuit:

For the Masters Challenge, 1 point bonus for people doing both races. Scoring will otherwise be based on each individual race .
For the Sierra Ski Chase, 5 extra bonus points for people doing both races. Scoring will otherwise be based on each individual race.

The Snowshoe Thompson is still the 1st race of the Fischer Cup, the premier race series in the Far West.

Skiers must register and pay for BOTH races to be a part of the Silver Sage Center Pursuit. Pre-registration information for each separate race is available at BUT be aware that you can only be entered for the Silver Sage Center Pursuit if you sign up for Paco’s Freestyle by the end of the Snowshoe Thompson race, approximately noon on Sunday, December 30. Because race organizers need extra time to plan for the pursuit race, if you pre-register for Paco’s Freestyle later on Sunday, you will NOT be eligible for the pursuit.

Preregister online for the Snowshoe Thompson until Friday 6pm or day of registration on Sunday December 30th. Pre-registration for Paco’s Freestyle closes at 6pm on Sunday December 30th or day of registration on Monday, December 31, HOWEVER, please see note above about the deadline to qualify for the Silver Sage Center Pursuit.

These races are a great way to kick off your race season and celebrate all the holiday snow! Many of you won’t realize just how fun the Silver Sage Center Pursuit is until it’s too late to sign up. Don’t delay, get signed up today!
