Chauncey Parker, current President of the Far West Nordic Ski Education Association, will lead our downhill clinic. Chauncey is a former coach of the UNR Nordic ski team and a long-time resident of the Tahoe/Truckee area where he has been active in Nordic racing. We will explore ways to find speed on downhills and through transitions, choosing the best line around corners, and how to carry speed on technical sections of the race course. Improve your confidence, control, speed, and fun on the downhills through this specialized clinic that provides an in-depth focus on improving your skills on downhill terrain.

Open to: Far West athletes age 13 or older wishing for top-notch race experience.
Sign-up Deadline: January 16, 2011; Sign Up Early, as this trip will Fill Up Quickly!

This is one of the most anticipated trips of the year for the Juniors. It combines hard, extremely competitive racing on the trails of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics in Soldier Hollow with a really fun excursion to Utah. We will leave on Wednesday afternoon (after school), a quick stay-over in eastern Nevada, and then head to Midway, Utah to check out the trails. Friday and Saturday will feature racing against the finest nordic skiers in the entire Western United States. This is THEIR JOQ (not ours), but we learn a lot from racing the best, and the excitement is infectious. Saturday afternoon is reserved for Tubing or Crater-Swimming, or just hanging out. Return is first-thing Sunday morning, back in Truckee by early evening.

Coaches will include Mark Nadell, Ben Grasseschi, Jeff Schloss, and Chelsea Holmes

Whether you’re an elite Junior Olympian or a young, first-time (serious) racer, this is an important trip for all ages of junior skiers (13 and over).
